About Us

InaraBBS was started on September 7, 2006. The goal was to create a fun environment without the red tape and internal infrastructure of ISCABBS and others. The idea was to create a user oriented text based bulletin board. The policy philosophy on Inara BBS is very different in the telnet-based BBS culture. As opposed to Sysops who traditionally moderate over BBS-wide rules, the rules are left to individual administrators who are in charge of "rooms" or "forums" (these are the telnet BBS equivalent of discussion groups). There are a total of two Sysops, whose duties in that capacity consist of creating new rooms, validate new users, and assist users. There is no BBS-wide policy.

InaraBBS Currently runs vDOC code, a derivative of Dave's own version of Citadel (DOC), which is, in turn, a derivative of Citadel. The BBS supports discussion forums, private Mail, as well as private instant messages known as "eXpress messages." There are discussion forums for most topics. The code supports virtually a limitless number of discussion forums.
